Parks & Recreation

About Us

Established in 2002, the Oakland Parks & Recreation Department was formed with a vision to strengthen the community and provide a quality of life that flourishes with the growth of the area. The Department has a strong focus on providing recreation programs, leisure opportunities, and development of the parks system for everyone to enjoy from youngsters to seniors.

On Saturday, August 23, 2008, Cypress Creek Park, our fourth Town Park, was dedicated. The OPRD department has an outstanding partnership with the YMCA, which provides the area youth with spring and fall soccer. Additionally, we are excited to be nearing completion of phase one of our new sports complex on Bowers Rd. This sports complex will be a wonderful addition to the community. After completion of all 6 phases, this park will stretch over 140 acers and be place for fun, fellowship, and community events.

The Department has an unwavering commitment to ensure the citizens of Oakland and the surrounding area have quality programs to develop both mind and body. Community involvement is the key to achieving a high quality of life, which is the goal of the Oakland Parks & Recreation Department. It is what makes Oakland not just a great place to own a home or start a business, but a great place to live!
